Updated: October 2026. These are planning estimates. Your valet company should confirm the final number after it checks the venue.
Most hosts know how many guests they have invited. Very few know how many valet attendants they need. Book too few and guests queue at the entrance in their best clothes. Book too many and you pay for staff who stand around. This guide shows how to work out the right number for a wedding, corporate event or private party in Dubai, with a simple formula, a quick-reference table and a checklist.
Key takeaways
- Count cars, not guests. Wedding and family guests often share cars, and corporate guests usually drive alone.
- Plan for the peak. In Dubai, about half of the cars usually arrive in the same 30 minutes.
- Distance changes everything. If cars are parked 5 minutes away, each attendant parks half as many cars.
- A complete team has three roles: attendants who park the cars, a key desk, and a supervisor.
- Departures are faster and more crowded than arrivals, so keep the full team until the end.
Step 1: Count the cars, not the guests
Start with the number of cars, because one car can carry one guest or a whole family. Use your guest list and the type of event:
| Type of event | Guests per car | 200 guests means about |
|---|---|---|
| Corporate event, conference, launch | 1.3 to 1.5 | 135 to 155 cars |
| Private party, birthday, villa event | About 2 | About 100 cars |
| Wedding, engagement, family event | 2.5 to 3 | 65 to 80 cars |
Subtract guests who will use a taxi, a hotel shuttle or a chauffeur, because they only need a drop-off point. If you are not sure, ask the venue how many cars came to a similar event.
Step 2: Find the busiest 30 minutes
Guests do not arrive evenly across the evening. Most of them arrive just before the start time, or just before the main moment, such as the bride’s entrance or the keynote speech. A good planning figure for Dubai events is that half of the cars arrive in the same 30 minutes. At weddings with a fixed entrance time, it can be more.
So if you expect 100 cars, plan for about 50 cars in the busiest 30 minutes. That is the number your valet team must handle without a queue.
Step 3: Check how far the cars will be parked

Each car is one round trip for an attendant: drive the car to the parking space, park it, store the key and walk or run back to the entrance. The further away the parking, the longer each trip takes.
| Where the cars are parked | One round trip | Cars per attendant in 30 minutes |
|---|---|---|
| On site, next to the entrance | About 4 minutes | About 7 |
| A short walk away (2 to 3 minutes) | About 7 minutes | About 4 |
| Off site (5 minutes or more), or a shuttle back | 10 minutes or more | About 3 |
At villas and private homes the cars are often parked along the street or on a nearby plot, so use the second or third row. At hotels and large venues with their own car park, the first row usually applies.
The formula
Then add 1 key desk attendant per entrance and 1 supervisor when the team has eight or more people.
Example: a wedding with 300 guests at a hotel in Dubai Marina
- 300 guests ÷ 2.5 guests per car = about 120 cars
- Half of them arrive in the busiest 30 minutes = 60 cars
- The hotel car park is next to the entrance, so one attendant parks about 7 cars in 30 minutes
- 60 ÷ 7 = about 9 attendants, plus 1 at the key desk and 1 supervisor
- Total: about 11 people
If the same wedding were at a villa where cars are parked a 3-minute walk away, the team would need about 15 attendants (60 ÷ 4), plus the key desk and a supervisor.
Quick guide: how many valet attendants by number of cars

This table uses the formula above, with half of the cars arriving in the busiest 30 minutes and one entrance.
| Expected cars | Parking on site | Parking a short walk away |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 30 | 3 people | 4 to 5 people |
| 50 | 5 people | 7 to 8 people |
| 100 | 9 people | 14 to 15 people |
| 150 | 13 people | 20 to 21 people |
| 200 | 17 people | 27 to 28 people |
The numbers include the key desk and, for teams of eight or more, a supervisor. For two entrances, add a key desk attendant and split the team. Large events often use a second car park or a shuttle, and that needs a site visit to plan. See how we staff larger events on our event valet parking page.
Who is in a valet team?

- Valet attendants (runners): they open the door, greet the guest, take the car and park it. Most of the team does this job.
- Key desk attendant: issues the ticket, tags and stores every key, and calls cars back at the end. One per entrance, and the key desk should never be left empty.
- Supervisor: manages the drop-off lane, moves attendants to where the queue is, speaks with the venue and the host, and handles any problem on the spot.
- Welcome team (optional): for weddings and VIP events, a welcome team or hostesses can greet guests and guide them inside, so the attendants can focus on the cars. See our guide to a red carpet entrance in Dubai.
What changes by type of event
Weddings
Guests arrive together for the entrance and leave together after dinner, often late at night. Plan for a sharp peak in both directions, and keep the full team until the last car has gone. See wedding valet parking in Dubai.
Corporate events
More cars per guest, because most people drive alone. Arrivals are spread out at conferences, but at a gala dinner or launch most cars arrive in 20 minutes. See corporate valet services.
Villa and private parties
The main question is where the cars can go. Street parking and nearby plots mean longer trips, so plan for more attendants than at a hotel. See private party valet service.
VIP guests and luxury cars
High-value cars need experienced attendants and closer supervision, and a VIP should never wait. Add one or two attendants as a buffer. See VIP valet parking.
Do not forget the departures
Arrivals spread over 30 to 45 minutes, but departures can happen in 15 minutes when an event ends. Returning a car also takes longer than parking it, because the attendant has to find the right car. Three ways to keep the exit moving:
- Keep the whole team until the end. Do not release attendants early.
- Ask the venue or the host to announce the end a few minutes before guests stand up, so the team can start bringing cars.
- Park VIP and early-leaver cars closest to the exit.
Checklist: what to tell your valet company
- Event date, start time, end time and the main moment (for example, the bride’s entrance)
- Venue address and the number of entrances
- Number of guests and the type of event
- Where cars can be parked, and how far it is from the entrance
- Whether VIP guests or luxury cars are expected
- Whether you also want a welcome team or a red carpet
With these details, a valet company can recommend the team size and send you a quote. The size of the team is the main part of the price. See our guide to valet parking cost in Dubai, and the steps in how to hire a valet parking service.
Frequently asked questions
How many valet attendants do I need per guest?
Work it out per car, not per guest. When cars are parked on site, plan for about 1 attendant for every 7 cars that arrive in the busiest 30 minutes, plus a key desk attendant and a supervisor. For 100 cars, that is about 9 people.
How many valets do I need for a wedding of 300 guests?
A wedding of 300 guests in Dubai usually means about 120 cars. At a hotel with on-site parking, plan for about 11 people. At a villa where cars are parked a short walk away, plan for about 17.
Does the valet team need a supervisor?
Yes, for a team of eight or more. The supervisor manages the drop-off lane and the team, so the host does not have to. For smaller teams, a senior attendant usually leads.
How early should the valet team arrive?
The team should arrive 45 to 60 minutes before the first guests, to check the parking, set up the drop-off point and the key desk, and agree the plan with the venue.
What happens if more cars arrive than expected?
A good valet company keeps one or two attendants as a buffer and can move cars to an overflow area. Tell the company as soon as your guest numbers change.
How much does a valet team cost in Dubai?
The price depends mainly on the number of attendants and the hours of the event. Share your date, venue and number of cars with a valet company to get a quote. Our valet parking cost guide explains what affects the price.
